We bought 30 acres last June. We broke ground in fall 2007. Our home is a Timber
frame home, and (hopefully) the last home
we build! (Although, it has been an awesome
experience to watch it go up: it literally
"rose up" from the ground by using
a large crane to raise the timbers(. Inside,
all the rough sewn timbers are exposed. We
will have no carpeting in the home, we picked
rustic hickory floors for our room and the
office and the rest of the house will be
done in porcelain tile with epoxy grout
(can you guess why?!!!) We have radiant
heat throughout, so the floors will be comfortable
on paws and feet! My bath has a beautiful
pass through fireplace in it that
warms the whelping room just on the other
side of it. We are quite excited with our
choices and can hardly wait to see the finishing
touches as they happen in the next few months.
We are hoping we have reached a break in
this nasty winter weather so we can really
swing into full gear!
The kennel
building is 120X60. It has radiant heat
as well and oh it feels so good in there!
We have a training room and plenty of puppy
rooms, a grooming room and kennel runs.
I learned so much from building our
first kennel, that this one will have
many improvements! We will have 16 closed
circuit cameras through out the kennel and
also outside the building facing the
runs. The monitors will be any TV
in our home! We also made the garage portion
large enough to store the RV in the winter.
I am having cabinets made out of laminate
so they can be wiped down and disinfected
easily.
